Present Continuous - 4 công dụng cần nhớ

Present Continuous là một thì rất thông dụng trong giao tiếp, khi chúng ta muốn nói về việc đang diễn ra. Tuy nhiên, thì này còn một số công dụng hết sức thông dụng mà có thể bạn chưa biết. Cùng C-Plus điểm qua các công dụng của Present Continuous bạn nhé!

1. Cách chia:

	Lưu ý: Các danh từ số ít chia giống He/She/It. Các danh từ số nhiều chia giống You/We/They. Viết tắt: is not = isn’t; are not = aren’t

Nhóm các động từ không chia ở Present Continuous:

• Động từ chỉ suy nghĩ: know, understand, believe, remember, forget, recognize, suppose, mean, realize, imagine, (dis)agree, doubt

• Động từ chỉ trạng thái cảm xúc/ý thích: like, love, hate, dislike, prefer, want, wish, need, appreciate, care, mind

• Một số động từ khác: have (theo nghĩa "sở hữu"), own, belong, possess

2. Công dụng:

• Sự việc đang xảy ra ngay thời điểm này (now, right now, at present, at the time being) hoặc trong khoảng thời gian hiện tại (today, this week, this month, ...)

E.g:

My father is watering the plants right now.

She's speaking on the phone with her friend at the moment.

I'm working on a project proposal this week.

• Xu hướng, hiện trạng, hiện tượng có thể thay đổi trong tương lai.

E.g:

Nowadays, more and more people are choosing to work remotely instead of going to their offices.

• Lời phàn nàn (be + always + V-ing).

E.g:

My neighbors are always singing karaoke so loudly in the evening.

The boy is always fidgeting with his pen in class.

• Kế hoạch tương lai (giống với một trong hai công dụng của be going to)

E.g:

They are building a bridge over this river soon.

= They are going to build a bridge over this river soon.

TUY NHIÊN: Ngoài công dụng diễn tả "kế hoạch tương lai", be going to còn được dùng cho những sự việc gần như chắc chắn sẽ xảy ra, nhưng không phải kế hoạch. Chẳng hạn:

Look at those flower buds. They are going to bloom very soon!

(Nhìn các nụ hoa kia kìa. Chúng sắp nở rồi!)

Trong ví dụ này, chúng ta sẽ dùng be going to, nhưng không dùng Present Continuous được.
