Future Simple

I. Functions:

Future Simple can be used to:

• · Talk about a future action with no planning:

Example: Hold on. I will get a pen.

We will see what we can do to help you.

Maybe we'll stay in and watch television tonight.

• · Talk about a random prediction or a promise (think, promise, believe, predict, expect, anticipate, ...):

Example: I think it will rain tomorrow.

I believe people will stop going to the city zoo in the near future.

I promise I'll not do it again!

II. Form:

+ Affirmative:

Subject + will + V-bare

+ Negative:

Subject + will not + V-bare

Shortened form: will not = won't

+ Question:

Will + Subject + V-bare
